After a year of the world-halting COVID-19, people everywhere are turning their gaze to the New Year with opportunities and changes for the better. Funzi is going to share some exciting news in early 2021. We continue our journey to provide better learning to every individual on the planet.
2020 — Exceptional year for Funzi
The year 2020 set challenges for people, organizations, and businesses around the world. Even with the obstacles we faced, Funzi achieved many successful milestones last year. We created a course to provide valid and reliable information about the COVID-19 pandemic for our learners. Through challenging times, we continued on our path to make learning accessible, easy, and impactful for billions of people. One of our biggest achievements in 2020 is our content partnership with Pearson, the global leader in educational content. This partnership allows us to expand our course selection and serve more learners.
Over 8 million learners worldwide
In 2020 we crossed the milestone of 8 million users around the globe. Our learners love our service, and the user feedback continued to be positive. With new Funzi courses, we can reach more learners than ever before. This uplifting trend gives us validation that our work is meaningful. We can change lives, have a positive impact on communities, and bring hope to billions.
Exploring the future of the employment sector with
Jobs on Facebook
Jobs on Facebook has become a major player in the job markets in many emerging countries. As a part of our partnership with Facebook, we developed a course that informs job-seekers about better ways to look and apply for jobs and finally nail that dream job. The positive results are yet another great reason why Funzi continues to focus on fixing the skills mismatches in the job markets worldwide.
Funzi Future Pack to build hope during and after the crisis
We launched the Funzi Future Pack in April 2020. The Future Pack is one of our contributions to the battle against COVID-19. We equip our learners with the skills they need during the pandemic and building a future after the crisis. The Future Pack consists of four Funzi courses. The 'Get that future' course was created with Finland Futures Research Centre and UNESCO professorship in Learning Society and Futures of Education. The other courses are ‘Founder 101’, ‘Get that job’, and ‘Sustainable world’, which was created in collaboration with the UN Association of Finland and UNDP.

‘COVID-19: Adapt and thrive’ course
In April we launched another large-scale effort to help combat the crisis. Our 'COVID-19: Adapt and thrive' course helps learners understand what the virus is, what can they do to stop its spread, how to stay safe, and how to support communities while maintaining their livelihood. Our content is based on neutral and reliable sources to help our users navigate challenging situations. We designed the course in collaboration with Harambee and United Nations South Africa.

The EU-funded SWITCH-Asia project
One of our highlights in 2020 was taking part in the SWITCH-Asia project in Vietnam. This Eco-Fair project offers information and educational content for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and consumers in Vietnam. The courses created for the project will reach half a million consumers and over 1000 MSMEs. This is most probably the development project with the largest reach ever implemented by a Finnish tech solution provider. The project will have a significant local impact on consumer behavior as well as the food production processes. The aim is to raise awareness about sustainable production and consumption while cutting production costs. The project continues into 2021.
Bigger and better funzi.mobi
We will introduce a new version of the funzi.mobi service in early 2021. Our team is working tirelessly to provide learners with a better out-of-class learning experience. The new release also allows us to offer a wider selection of courses. Our affordable premium courses are based on Pearson content and they emphasize developing soft skills and critical employability skills. Keep up with Funzi in 2021!
